All concerts start at 7.30pm in Cley church. Tickets £8 – available from Holt, Sheringham, Wells and Cromer Tourist Information Centres, at the door on the night, or through the website – www.salthouseart.co.uk. Seats are hard so bring cushions if needed. There are bats in the church and they may come out during the concerts!

Sunday 8th July 2012 JEHANE MARKHAM. and MUSICIANS. POETRY AND JAZZ
Poet Jehane Markham has been collaborating with pianist Robin Philips since they first performed together at Salthouse 2004. Tonight virtuoso double bass play Jonny Gee joins them to play The London Series. This unique poem/memoir looks back at a misspent youth in north London, as well as paying homage to favourite writers who have lived there.

Swingball at Cley 12
Norwich five piece band Swingball has recently been thrilling audiences with a vibrant mix of Eastern European, French and 1930’swing music. With a line up that includes accordion, sax, guitar, percussion and double bass, its repertoire ranges between wild, playful, passionate and soulful. The band’s programme for Cley 12 includes music from Duke Ellington, Čočeks from Serbia and scissor dances from Russia.

Psalms from the Horses’ Mouth
This programme of words and music explores and celebrates the ancient relationship between man and horse. At the heart of the programme is the narrative poem « The Horses » a story that begins in eastern England a hundred years ago. It follows the life of Jenny Wing, a horseman’s daughter. The slow disappearance of the horse from the landscape mirrors her aspirations and disappointments in a lifetime that spans the most of twentieth century. The programme also includes poetry, song and humorous moving stories from the Celtic and Navajo traditions.

Songs of Land and Sea
A celebration of nature in great vocal music from across time, including music by Victoria, Lassus, Finzi, Holst, Britten, Gershwin, Novello and the Beatles. Vocality is a group of experienced singers, based in north Norfolk. Formed in 2010, they are becoming well known for high musical quality and the infectious enjoyment of their performances. They sing an exciting range of unaccompanied music from classical to popular as well as new arrangements and pieces written especially for them.
